About HMS Association
Flagship of Sir Cloudesley Shovel. Four ships and up to 2,000 sailors died when the fleet struck the Scilly rocks at night. One of the worst Royal Navy disasters. It led to the 1714 Longitude Act and the race to solve navigation at sea.
